The Pueblo Viejo Gold Mine – one of 5 largest gold mines in the world is located in the Dominican Republic. The mine is owned by Barrick Gold Corporation and Goldcorp Inc. The expansion project, also known as the Pueblo Viejo Dominicana Corporation (PVDC) project, involves the construction of a new processing facility to increase the mine’s production capacity. The project is expected to increase the mine’s overall gold production by approximately 30%, and is expected to have a total cost of approximately $3.7 billion.
